The Cat & Wickets Pub Company
The Cat & Wickets is a pub company owned by ex-England cricketers Harry Gurney and Stuart Broad. The company currently comprises two Leicestershire-based premium gastro-pubs, The Griffin Inn and Tap & Run, with the aim of growing to five over the coming years.
The company commissioned us to raise awareness of the two pubs in the local area, while nurturing the brand’s reputation within local, trade and national press.
We developed a bespoke PR strategy targeting local, trade and national press for both proactive and reactive opportunities.
Within the first few months of working with the Cat & Wickets, we had written the award entry that won The Griffin Inn the coveted title of Leicestershire Pub of the Year at the National Pub & Bar Awards 2023 and Best Gastro Pub at the Midlands Food Drink & Hospitality Awards 2023. Both Tap & Run and The Griffin Inn were shortlisted to win Pub of the Year at Leicestershire Promotions’ Tourism & Hospitality Awards 2023.
When Tap & Run reopened in June 2023 after it was destroyed in a fire the previous year, we secured multiple pieces of coverage in national, local and broadcast media, and organised a hugely successful launch event to swing open the doors in style. The team also recommended a Thank You lunch for the firefighters who fought the blaze, securing further coverage on ITV News Central.
